Dear Browncoats,
I regret to inform you that due to extraordinary circumstances, the Chicagoland Browncoats will not be holding Can’t Stop the Serenity for the first time in 9 years. We are almost as sad and disappointed as when Firefly got cancelled.
We have really struggled to find a suitable venue this year that meets all our needs, while still keeping our ticket prices reasonable. Also, while we love our event volunteers, we simply need more people willing to put in time and effort in the months leading up to the event.
Other Chicagoland Browncoat Activities
However, do not despair! We are going to definitely try to have a party at WindyCon this year and possibly Capricon next year.
Make sure to also join our Meet-up Group, which meets the first Monday of every month at the Mystic Celt in Chicago.
Other CSTS Events
If you need a CSTS fix, consider a weekend with our friends in Minneapolis. http://wiki.serenitymush.com/wiki/index.php/Can't_Stop_The_Serenity

We net a total of $6541.56, which is the most we've ever raised!
$4906.17 will go to Equality Now and $1635.39 for House of the Good Shepherd!
Thanks to all of you! Make sure you visit our Sponsor page and patronize their businesses as they very generously donated great items to this year's auction!
Looking for volunteers
Hi everyone,
It's that time of year once again to start planning Can't Stop the Serenity for Chicago.
This year, we are at risk of not having the event at all. We might need to find a new location for the event, and we need some new crew members to help us run the event. If we can not get enough people to help us run the event this year, we will not be able to have it.
Our first meeting will be held during Capricon, Sunday, February 10 at 10am in the Westin Chicago North Shore, Wheeling IL, in the lobby. Please note you do not have to attend Capricon to attend our meeting. We will discuss roles and the challenges we face for this coming year.
We are looking for volunteers for the following positions:
Captain of Marketing - Help get more people to attend
Captain of Donations - Solicit donations from local businesses
Captain of Event Programming - Help us figure out what we will do, the day of the event
We will also need many boots on the ground to help each captain and help us run the event the day of the show. However, if we can not get anyone to volunteer for a Captain position, we will not host the event this year. So if you are interested, even if you have never done this before, please volunteer and we will help and support you!
If you would like to volunteer for a position but can not attend the meeting, please let Sandra@chicagolandbrowncoats.com know asap and we can meet with you separately. Volunteering will take a few hours of your time each month, and several hours before the event. It's a lot of work, but it is also very rewarding and will look great on your resume!
Thanks to all of you!
